Watch: Virat Kohli gets emotional after humiliating defeat against KKR, blames side screen for RCB’s loss!

Virat Kohli termed today's Royal Challengers Bangalore's batting performance as worst and blamed side screen for the loss

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli gets emotional after facing a humiliating defeat at the hands of Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders in an Indian Premier League match at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 23.

Virat Kohli termed today’s team batting performance as worst and blamed side screen for the loss of his wicket.

‘Probably our worst batting performance if not the worst of all time of IPL. It really hurts,” Virat said during the post match chat.

“It’s very hurtful. The first half what we had we thought we would capitalise and chased the score down but…yea just reckless batting. As a professional cricketer we were expected to perform much better,” he said.

Asked about being upset on his dismissal, Virat said: “The side screen is very small here, one guy just got up as the bowler was loading up and it just right behind the bowler’s arm, small thing in cricket but not such a big deal.”

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field against Kolkata Knight Riders. The game started 45 minutes after the schedule time due to rain. Despite the rain taking away around 30 minutes of the scheduled time, the umpires decided that minimum overs of 20 per side will remain.

For KKR, Sunil Narine, who came into open the innings with skipper Gautam Gambhir, took the crowd by storm after he smashed 18 runs off first over of the match. The over was bowled by Narine’s Caribbean teammate Samuel Badree.

Besides Narine, no other Kolkata batsmen performed as per the potential and they kept losing wickets at the regular intervals. KKR in their quota of 20 overs managed to put up 132 runs target for the RCB. Sunil Naraine top scored with 34 off 17 balls. He smashed 6 fours and 1 six.

In reply, RCB batsmen struggled to face KKR’s bowling attack and they were bowled out for just 49 to record lowest total in an IPL.

For KKR, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Chris Woakes and Grandhomme were the pick up bowlers for picking three wickets each.
