Shreyas Iyer is one of the most promising youngsters in India and is hailed to be the next biggest thing in Indian cricket. He is representing a depleted Delhi Daredevils, who without their big stars are still pressing for a playoffs berth, they make it or not is still a big question. Last night Delhi Daredevils lost to a more superior Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets. That may be a big setback, but DD are still in the race. DD won the toss and asked SRH to bat, they scored 185, thanks to Yuvraj Singh’s breathtaking 70 off 41 balls.

When DD came to bat, they started losing wickets on a canter and because they did not get partnerships they were always looking down the barrel. Iyer came to bat when the score was 72 for 2 and they had lost Samson in the 5th over and Karun Nair. Iyer scored a cameo of 33 merely off 25 balls.

But what caught our eye was Iyer’s onslaught on Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj Singh was hit for 2 back-to-back sixes, rare but it happened. The first six was hit straight back down the ground, the ball was over-pitched and in the slot, all Iyer had to do was go through the shot and he did successfully.

Then Yuvraj Singh rectified his length and bowled short, Iyer rocked back onto the backfoot and pulled it for another six. It was huge and it sailed into the crowd. His innings was short lived as he got dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the purple cap holder.
