What MS Dhoni did with his bat in the first innings of the qualifier one of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede stadium, a similar performance was exhibited by the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) pacer Washington Sunder with the ball. He just shook the MI top batting order and gave his hope to his team that they are still in the game and can clinch it from the host’s hands.
Washington was brought into the attack at the 2nd over of the second innings. He gave 8 runs in that over but failed to pick any wickets. Later, he again came to deliver the 6th over and he just throttled the batting line-up of Mumbai. In that over he conceded just one run but dismissed skipper Rohit Sharma for 1 runs while sent Ambati Rayudu back to the pavilion for a duck. He provided the much-needed breakthrough to his team and by the end of his over, Mumbai was reduced to 42/3.
He didn’t just stop there but in his very next over, he took Kieron Pollard’s wicket and dismissed him for 7 runs off just 10 balls. Sundar bowled a phenomenal spell of 4 overs where he conceded just 16 runs but dismissed 3 key Mumbai batsman who could have created a big difference in the game.
