IPL 2017 SRH vs KKR, Eliminator: Vijay Shankar is the best option to replace Yuvraj Singh. Here’s why?

In the previous game against GL, Shankar played a phenomenal knock of 63 runs off 44 balls and hit 9 fours. Also, along with David Warner, he added a total of 133 runs for the third wicket

Ahead of the Eliminator on May 17, the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad faced a blow as veteran pacer Ashish Nehra was ruled out of the rest of the games due to a hamstring injury. On the other hand, it’s doubtful whether star player Yuvraj Singh could make it in the playing XI today as he has to go under few fitness tests after getting injured against Mumbai Indians in game number 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10. Now in such a situation, the team management has to find Yuvi’s replacement and it could be Vijay Shankar who played a match-winning inning with skipper David Warner in their previous game.

In the GL vs SRH game on May 14, the 26-years old batsman from Tamil Nadu came into bat at number four after the team was reduced to 25/2 in the 3rd over. Yuvraj Singh couldn’t make that game due to his injury and Shankar proved his worth in that game. Both Warner and Shankar added a total of 133 runs for the third wicket.

Shankar played a phenomenal knock of 63 runs off 44 balls and hit 9 fours. Their partnership landed them on the winning side and they defeated Gujarat Lions by 8 wickets.

Shankar has played only 3 games in this season but he put an impact on everyone through his last inning. He had to wait for almost a month to play another game for SRH were he bamboozled the Gujarat bowlers with his bat. In the last game, he remained 15 not out in that win over Mumbai Indians.

Prior to this season, he played his game in the year 2014 for the Chennai Super Kings where he only bowled in the game.

And today, if Yuvraj Singh won’t get included in the playing XI, then this young and steady batsman has the potential to replace him and perform up to the mark.
