It would be apt to say that Aaron Finch took the game away from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from the second ball he faced. Finch took the RCB bowlers by storm and struck them for humongous six, this is the first time in IPL 2017 he played this well and hammered bowlers right from the beginning. Twitterati including cricket fraternity were in awe as they saw clean hitting from the Australian opener.
Finch made RCB’s lowly score of 134 too small for him as he was in a hurry to finish the match, especially the spinners including Yuzvendra Chahal, Pawan Negi and dangerous Samuel Badree. He came into bat when GL were struggling in powerplay overs with the scoreboard reading 23 for 2 in 5th over.

After Brendon McCullum’s wicket, it seemed like RCB are making a comeback in the game having created immense pressure on skipper Suresh Raina. But, Finch blasted two back-to-back sixes on Badree’s bowling announcing arrival on the ground. After that, he did not hold back and released the pressure off Raina taking GL to a comfortable situation.

Finch’s GL teammates McCullum and Irfan Pathan took to Twitter soon after the game ended. Their assistant coach and former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif too tweeted praising Finch’s blistering knock.

Finch was an unstoppable entity on the ground as after his presence made Bangalore bowlers’ anxious forcing them to bowl bad balls. His innings’ impact was such that after taking his catch AB de Villiers did not even celebrate.

Before the match Finch tried the switch hit in the practice session, GL side tweeted whether their fans wanted him to do the same in the match as well. Finch attempted the switch-hit on the free hit but could not convert it into a boundary.

GL won the game quite easily and moved up the ladder in IPL 2017 standings, improving their net run rate as well.
