IPL 2017, RCB v MI, innings report: RCB crawl to par score, MI need 163

IPL 2017, RCB v MI: Watson who is making a comeback of sorts failed to make a mark, when he was required to, he was out for merely 3 runs

Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and to everyone’s surprise he opted to bat on a green top. But as soon as the game got underway, they lost Mandeep Singh first for 17 and then the big fish Virat Kohli departed for 20. McClenaghan picked both the wickets and that really set RCB back. From there it was about resurrecting for AB de Villiers and Travis Head. Travis Head tried his best but could not sustain as he departed for 12. ABD was the next to go when the score was 102.

Krunal Pandya bowled 4 overs and gave away 34 runs but he picked up two crucial wickets. ABD was the only batsman who got well-settled, no one else spent adequate time on the crease. He scored 43 off 27 balls, the innings was studded with 3 maximums as well. Watson who is making a comeback of sorts failed to make a mark, when he was required to, he was out for merely 3 runs.

It only showed that RCB have not learnt from their mistakes and that is not expected from a side boasting of world class superstars. Pawan Negi showed all of us why he is also hailed highly for his batting spoiling Lasith Malinga’s figures by hitting him for 2 sixes in one over. Malinga gave away 31 off his 4 overs. But it was Pawan Negi and Kedar Jadhav who played really well to get RCB to respectability. Negi fell in the last over for 35. Jadhav fell in the very next ball for 28. Mumbai Indians will need 163 to snatch numero uno spot from KKR.
