Welcome to inUth’s digital coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017’s Match 38 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This season has turned out to be a forgettable on for RCB as nothing has gone right for them this year. From injuries to changes and then ultimately batting collapses, one thing they were proud of all along the league was their batting and that has faltered in this season.

On the other hand, MI are currently on 2nd spot in IPL Standings 2017 with 7 wins in 9 games, they will be looking to reach the top spot where Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are. MI have done brilliantly well, holding on to their nerves even in the most crunch situations. They are high in spirits after winning a match in superover against Gujarat Lions (GL). But, they need not underestimate the talent of a wounded RCB side as they are still lethal on paper.

MI’s batting has been whirlwind as they have chased down big totals anyhow and posted gigantic total with ease as their middle and middle-lower order has done the trick when the top order could not. Openers Jos Buttler and Parthiv Patel have done wonders up the order. Rohit’s form has been patchy but apart from him Nitish Rana, Kieron Pollard, Pandya brothers have done well for the side.

MI’s bowling has done well too with a right blend of overseas bowlers like Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan and Harbhajan Singh stopping runs in the middle overs.

Talking about RCB, to an extent it can be said that their bowling has improved compared to the previous seasons. The area they have faltered used to be their core strength, batting. Even with big names like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, they have not been able to push the accelerator. The previous match saw Kohli trying to chase down a total with all his teammates getting out in front of him. It was disheartening to watch him like that. But, now there is no pressure on them, they might try to spoil MI’s party in this match.
