Welcome to inUth’s l digital coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017’s Match 25 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Wankhede Stadium at Mumbai. It will be a test for DD as the Zaheer Khan led side has lost three of their five matches by a whisker. They will be looking to convert that into a win. Whereas, MI have done absolutely opposite to what they did in the previous season, as they have won five of their six games and are currently at the top of the table.
Despite winning just 2 of their 5 matches, DD are currently placed at No.4 as their run rate is better than any team, +1.157. Although DD’s record at Wankhede Stadium has not been convincing as they have lost 5 out of 6 games. They will be looking to make it 2 out of 7 times in this match. DD has one of the best bowling units in this IPL and they have managed to restrict the score at several occasions.
Sending Angelo Mathews ahead of Chris Morris did not work well for DD in the previous match and the decision was criticised by many. They might be excluding Mathews from the side and look for other options as well. Their top order batsmen have been performing well, it is time for an all-round effort from Zaheer’s side. The big question is when will Kagiso Rabada on whom they spent big bucks gets picked in the Playing XI.
On the other hand, MI are in great spirits as they are dominating each and every team they go up against. Their top order is furious as ever with Jos Buttler and Parthiv Patel in destructive form. Domestic sensation Nitish Rana has impressed everyone with his strokeplay, he even surpassed players like Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle by becoming the batsman with most sixes in IPL 2017.
However, their bowling has been under the radar, they might consider replacing out-of-form Lasith Malinga with Mitchell Johnson who performed outstandingly in Big Bash League 2016-17. Pandya brothers too have displayed good form. To suffice, MI are in their prime form and will be a tough contender to beat.
