Welcome to inUth’s digital and non-stop coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) season 10’s Match No. 11 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Glenn Maxwell’s maiden captaincy run in IPL 10 has been fruitful so far as they have been able to win their first two matches. On the other hand, KKR were handed their first defeat in the tournament against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the previous match.
KKR will miss their star overseas player Chris Lynn who injured his right shoulder in the previous game. It is a big question that who will KKR replace Lynn with. It is a possibility that Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan might play his first game in this season as he was away in the initial games due to national duty. There are other players in the queue as well who might replace Lynn in the side, including New Zealand’s’ Colin de Grandhomme, Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile and West Indies’ Rovman Powell.
The biggest concern for KKR ahead of the fixture is Glenn Maxwell’s form. He has been in splendid form in the first two games and yet to be dismissed. KKR have a tough task ahead of them as KXIP’s bowling lineup has done wonders for them by slowing down the run rate in initial overs and picking up regular wickets. KXIP bowlers have not let the opponent team post a gigantic total on the board.
The trend in this season has been winning the toss and electing to field first. If Maxwell loses the toss, it will be interesting to watch whether KXIP be able to post a big total batting first or not. KXIP are currently table toppers with an emphatic run rate of 1.598 whereas KKR are on 5th position having lost one of their two games.
