Heart out! PV Sindhu speaks about Carolina Marin, turning point, crowd support and more

Indian Open Super Series 2017: PV Sindhu defeated Spaniard Carolina Marin, the Indian silver medalist emerged trumps and took her Rio revenge

The Sunday spectacle is now over between PV Sindhu and Spaniard Carolina Marin, the Indian silver medalist emerging trumps and taking her Rio revenge. Last year, she faced defeat in the hands of Marin in the all-important Rio Olympics, so this was her apt revenge, that too in front of her home supporter.

Just after the match she spoke exclusively and said, “I really played well. The first game was really crucial for me. It was a good match overall. I am really happy with my performance. She also played well. For both of us, the first game was really important. From the start both of us were fighting for every point. There were no easy points, there were long rallies.”

Highlighting the importance of the first game she added, “You never know because each point was important. It’s just that every point was important for both of us.”

Congratulations @Pvsindhu1 for a splendid win at the India Open Series. The nation cheers your achievement!

Thanking the crowd for always giving her the motivation, he said, “After China Open, this is my second title and that too at the start of the year. I would like to thank the spectators, they were really very supportive. It’s been really nice because the whole stadium was cheering for both of us.”

Super performance by @Pvsindhu1. Congratulations and thanks for making us proud.

Throwing light on the prep and hardwork she puts in, she said, “It’s not about winning or losing, you have to just work hard and give your best. We have played our best matches at the Olympic Games. But I think ups and downs are part of life but you will have to come back and train harder to improve yourself and that’s what is really important.”
