‘Your one step can make difference’, Virat Kohli urges Delhiities to fight smog together – VIDEO

Virat Kohli shared this video on his official social media accounts a day before the first India vs Sri Lanka Test is scheduled to be played in Kolkata

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has come up with a special message for people living in Delhi in context with the rising levels of pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR). Delhi and its nearby areas have been enveloped in a thick smog for over a week now. The air quality in the region is at hazardous levels, prompting authorities to declare a public health emergency.

Kohli took to his official social media handles and urged the Delhiites to make an effort to minimise the effect of the toxic situation. He shared a video in which he could be seen requesting people “to win the match against pollution” with teamwork. He captioned the video which read as ‘#Delhi, we need to talk #MujheFarakPadtaHai’. In the video, he said,

Hi guys! We all know what the situation of pollution is like in Delhi, I wanted to bring your attention towards it because a lot of people are debating as to what’s causing it. But what are we actually doing about it? Agar humein yeh match jeetna hain pollution ke against, hum sab ko saath mein mil ke khelna hoga. Kyunki hum sabki zimmedaari hain pollution ko kam karna. Specially jo log Delhi mein rehte hain, un sabki yeh responsibility hain. (If we have to win the match against pollution then we all have to come together. Because this is everybody’s responsibility to curb down the pollution. Especially the people who live in Delhi, it is their responsibility). I would urge people to share their rides whenever they can. I would urge them to use a bus, a metro, or use Ola Share if you can. This action if we do it once a week, it will make a massive difference. Kyunki har chhote action se bhi farak padta hain. (Because every small action can make a huge difference) If you agree, like this post, share it and show your support.

In order to combat the smog situation, the environment authorities imposed ‘severe-plus’ category restrictions under which trucks were restricted from entering Delhi and commercial construction work was banned.
