Why The CSK vs SRH Game Felt A Lot Like A Replay Of The IPL 2018 Final

If only Shane Watson had scored a hundred this time too

The second innings of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) encounter yesterday felt a lot like the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 final. These details will surely give you deja vu. First, the first innings score by SRH was pretty similar. Yesterday they scored 175, whereas last year they’d scored 178. But there is nothing surprising in this comparison, right? Then look at the second innings.

In both the matches, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the first over which turned out to be a maiden over. On both occasions, opener Shane Watson on strike. The runchase was off to a really slow start with Faf du Plessis getting anxious and losing his wicket both the times.

After a slow start Watson strings together a partnership with anyone and starts making up for the dot deliveries he faced earlier in the innings. And similarly he lets loose once he crosses the half-century mark.

In the IPL final, the Australian all-rounder scored 117 runs off 57 deliveries whereas yesterday he scored 96 runs off 53 deliveries. The statistics look pretty similar. The only difference is that the 37-year-old does not get his century in the latter.

Few fans on Twitter felt the same too:

Or we can say if SRH bowls a maiden against CSK then they are giving themselves a less chance of winning

Moral of the story from #Watto
1. Never bowl a maiden over to him – @BhuviOfficial
2. Never fire a word at him – @rashidkhan_19#Yellove #CSKvSRH #Watson #IPL2019

Perhaps Bhuvneshwar will intentionally bowl just one wide to Watson next time to change the script that follows.
