Former opening batsman Virender Sehwag again landed himself in the thick soup again, over his tweet on the deaths of children in the Gorakhpur tragedy. Sehwag, who is known for his witty tweets and sarcastic jokes on issues ranging from politics to sports, this time may have over-stepped the line. The tragic incident that took place in Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das Medical College.

So what exactly happened at Gorakhpur that is making Uttar Pradesh boil

The death of 30 infants since Thursday, allegedly because a private supplier of oxygen to the hospital snapped supply due to payment arrears.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is keeping a close eye on the entire situation and is helping in the recovery process.

But Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to express his grief. Virender Sehwag tweeted, “deeply pained by the loss of innocent lives in Gorakhpur. More than 50000 children have lost their lives here since encephalitis was first reported in 1978, the year I was born.”

It seems Sehwag was misinformed or did not do his homework before expressing his views on his episode. For this, he faced immense flak from his followers on the micro-blogging site.

Infants were apparently died because of the non-presence of oxygen cylinders.
