Virat Kohli gets his 50th international century with a six and Twitter floods with wishes. Read reactions

Virat Kohli is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most number of international centuries scored by an Indian cricketer

Indian skipper Virat Kohli caused a sudden destruction to the Lankan bowlers during the second session of the first India vs Sri Lanka test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 20. Despite a phenomenal start by the Indian openers, the middle order collapsed badly on Day 5. None of the batsmen could score in double digits. All this while Virat Kohli batted with utmost patience and seemed to play in his comfort zone. But he turned his beast mode on after Wriddhiman Saha’s dismissal and rode to his 50th international century. Kohli scored 104 off 119 balls including 2 sixes and 12 fours.

It was his 18th ton in Tests and 50th overall. He equalled Sunil Gavaskar’s record of 11 Test hundreds as an Indian captain and is second only to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most number of international centuries scored by an Indian cricketer.

Meanwhile, Twitter was flooded with posts praising and congratulating the Indian captain for the feat. Here’s how the cricket fans reacted:

Right after Kohli scored the hundred, India declared their inning. India took a lead of 230 runs in the 2nd innings and now Sri Lanka need 231 runs to win.
