679 – The 679 runs by Kohli in this tour are the most for a visiting captain on a South African tour. He went past Brian Lara’s 627 runs that came in the 2003/04 tour. Well, this is big as it is a 12-year-old record.

With 9423 runs, Virat Kohli has now made it to the top five ODI run-getters from India going past Mohammed Azharuddin. Sachin Tendulkar with 18,426 runs in ODIs is at the top of the table. It will take some time for Kohli to break that record, but one can certainly say it must be in his sight now.

Meanwhile, India lost the 4th ODI due to the D/L method. India scored 290 runs. Shikhar Dhawan also scored a century — he scored 109. When South Africa started to chase, rain interrupted proceedings and the hosts needed just 202 from 28 overs. With wickets in hand, they chased it down easily with 15 balls to spare. The series now stands 3-1 in favour of India. South Africa have also kept their record of never being defeated in the Pink jersey alive.
