U-19 WC: ‘Silent killers’, Twitterati hail coach Rahul Dravid as young colts beat Pakistan

India's U-19 team led by Prithvi Shaw thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan by 203 runs in U-19 World Cup semi-final match

India’s U-19 team led by Prithvi Shaw thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan by 203 runs in the semi-final match of the ongoing U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, New Zealand on January 30.

Opting to bat first, Team India set a mammoth total of 273 runs for Pakistan. Shubman Gill played the match-winning knock of unbeaten 102 off 94 balls. During his stay at the crease, he smashed 7 fours.

Besides Shubman, Indian captain Prithvi Shaw (41) and Manjot Kalra (47) were the other two batsmen who played sensible knock to provide a solid start to the team.

Shaw, who was looking in fine touch, missed his half-century by 9 runs as he failed to make it to the crease and was given a run-out.

Manjot Kalra too missed his half-century after he was caught out off Muhammad Musa’s delivery.

Anukul Roy (33) also played an important knock in the crucial middle overs. He gave the much-needed support to Shubman who was losing his partners on the other hand.

In reply, Pakistan kept losing their wickets during their chase and they were bundled out for just 69 runs. They lost the battle with 203 runs margin.

India won the match and Twittersphere erupted in joy and credited India’s U-19 coach Rahul Dravid for the comprehensive win.

Congrats team India, you just played better cricket than us but as Rahul Dravid said initially it’s not about winning or losing, it’s about getting the young guys the flavour of Pakistan India match. I hope we learn from our mistakes and play better in future #PAKvIND #CWCu19

– before the harsh criticism on U19 bunch, former Pakistan greats must note that Rahul Dravid chose to work with India U19. How many from Pakistan would opt to serve at this level?
