The Cameron Bancroft run out: Moeen Ali’s misfield to Chris Woakes’ direct hit –WATCH

The fall of Bancroft brought the ever-so-elegant Usman Khawaja to the crease. He is currently at the crease with a set David Warner

The Cameron Bancroft run out seems to be the talking point from the first morning of the second Ashes Test. He departed for merely 10 runs. Earlier, England won the toss and elected to field in the 2nd Test at Adelaide. England is already trailing in the series after they were thrashed in the first Test at Gabba by 10 wickets. The runout was a comedy of errors, literally. initially, David Warner played a defence right under his eyes of the bowling of Stuart Broad. Australia was on 33 at that stage.

Moeen Ali, who was fielding at short cover missed to pick up the ball cleanly that is what tempted Bancroft to take off, but Chris Woakes, who was just behind Ali took a few steps in front and picked up the ball. Bancroft was approximately five metres down the wicket for a run, had to return. But Woakes found the stumps from a very difficult angle as he had just one stump to aim at.

He did it and Bancroft was a touch shy of making his crease, the umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger, he did not even bother to go upstairs for a referral. Australia had lost their first wicket, thanks to a clumsy runout.
