In a recent development, the Chief Advisory Committee (CAC) appointed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India has stated that the procedure of selection of Team India’s head coach needs few more days. Six shortlisted candidates including Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shastri, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Phil Simmons and Tom Moody were scheduled to be interviewed on July 10. However, in the evening, CAC members and former Indian cricketers Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman addressed a press conference where they stated that they need few more days to agree on one name.

Sourav Ganguly said,”We are in no hurry to select a coach for the Indian team. Ahead of finalising one name, we would like to consult the Indian skipper Virat Kohli.”

“We also have to give credit to Virat Kohli that he totally stayed out of it, didn’t give any input on names (for coach),” added Ganguly.

There were speculations that the committee will declare the name of the coach today itself but by the end of the day, it has been made clear that the board need a few days more to announce the next coach.

Earlier on June 20, former Head coach of the Indian cricket team Anil Kumble resigned from his post and in his resignation letter, he mentioned that skipper Virat Kohli had some reservations with his style. Followed by Anil Kumble’s this move, the BCCI invited applications to fill in the vacant post. There were rumours too that Virender Sehwag has sent a 2-liner resume, however, he then rubbished this fact.
