Team India coach selection: Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shashtri and 6 others to be interviewed today. Full candidate list here

The six who are to be interviewed for the post of Team India's head coach are Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Phil Simmons and Tom Moody

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) will today be interviewing the candidates for the post of the Head Coach of Indian cricket team. Days after Anil Kumble’s resignation, the committee will agree on one name who will join as the new coach. CAC members—Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman—will conduct the interview procedure in Mumbai at 1 pm.

According to several media reports, 0ut of the received applications, the BCCI shortlisted ten candidates and they were:

  1. Ravi Shastri (IND)

  2. Virender Sehwag (IND)

  3. Craig McDermott (AUS)

  4. Lance Klusener (SA)

  5. Rakesh Sharma (IND)

  6. Lalchand Rajput (IND)

  7. Phil Simmons (WI)

  8. Tom Moody (AUS)

  9. Dodda Ganesh (IND) and

  10. Richard Pybus (ENG)

As learned from the reports, out of these 10 names, only six are to be interviewed and they are Ravi Shastri, Virender Sehwag, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Phil Simmons and Tom Moody. It’s expected that trio of Ganguly, Tendulkar and Laxman would name the next coach of the Indian cricket team on July 10 itself so that he could join the team for the forthcoming India’s tour to Sri Lanka.

The reports also state that the CAC and the selection panel have been informed by the BCCI that the selection of coach should be done in such a way that he shouldn’t have any problem with the captain to get along or Vice Versa. The new coach selected will continue with the team till ICC World Cup 2019.

Earlier on June 20, Anil Kumble stepped down from the post of team India’s head coach and in his resignation letter, he mentioned that skipper Virat Kohli had some differences in the style.

According to the reports, earlier the time was fixed at 12:30 pm. However, Sachin Tendulkar, who is currently in London, has requested the Board to start the procedure at 8:30 am London time.
