Suresh Raina had a car accident while driving from Delhi to Kanpur, escapes unhurt

Suresh Raina's Range Rover got involved in an accident as he was driving for a Duleep Trophy match at Kanpur between India Red and India Blue

India’s veteran left-handed batsman Suresh Raina had a car accident on his way from Delhi to Kanpur. Raina was driving in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh when the tyre of his Range Rover SUV burst near the Friends Colony region of Etawah. Luckily there was no other vehicle involved in the accident and Raina escaped unhurt. The 30-year-old is currently captaining the India Blue team in Duleep Trophy. He is in Kanpur to play against India Red in day-night First-Class Championship which is scheduled from September 13 to September 16.

According to Sportswallah, the Deputy Superintendent of the Police (DSP)  of Etawah, Rajesh Singh said, “the cricketer was driving his Range Rover from Delhi to Kanpur when rear tyre busted. The car was not on high speed when the incident took place and Raina remained unhurt. Later, Raina was arranged another car in which he resumed his journey to Kanpur. The Range Rover is presently standing at the incident spot in police custody.”

Raina recently did not get selected in India’s squad for Australia in the limited over series. He is trying to enhance his fitness level to make himself suitable for the Indian side. Though he falsified the reports of him failing the much-talked about ‘Yo-Yo- fitness test’.

Suresh Raina’s India Blue will go up against Dinesh Karthik-led India Red who won their first match against India Green quite convincingly, beating Parthiv Patel’s team by 170 runs. Though after the accident, his availability is doubtful.

A few hours back Raina shared a video of his workout regime as well preparing for the match. Though it is not quite clear whether it was shot before the accident or after it.
