South African Shane Dadswell surpasses Sir Don Bradman, scores 490 runs in a 50-over match

By the end of the inning, Shane Dadsweell's team posted a mammoth total of 677 runs on the scoreboard after losing 3 wickets

The history of cricket houses many legends who have done incredible things while playing a match. For example, Sir Donald Bradman who once scored unbeaten 452 runs in a first-class match in 1930. And now, after 87 years, a 20-year-old South African cricketer has surpassed all these stats in 50-over match club game.

According to several reports, Shane Dadswell went on to score an unimaginable 490 runs from just 151 balls during NWU-Pukke vs Potch Dorp at the Witrand Oval.

Playing for the NWU-Pukke, Dadswell smashed a total of 27 boundaries and 57 sixes in his swashbuckling inning. He nearly missed out to cross the 500-run benchmark and break Brian Lara’s first-class individual score of 501* as he was dismissed by Cobus Crowther of Potch Dorp. By the end of the inning, NWU-Pukke posted a mammoth total of 677 runs after losing 3 wickets.

Let’s have a look at the scorecard:

Insane batting in a 50-over club match in Potch. Is this ground the size of a postage stamp? And if CricInfo is to be believed, today is Dadswell’s 20th birthday. pic.twitter.com/XwA2QzXkbK

Apart from Dadswell, Ruan Haasbroek was the other batsman who scored a century. He slammed 104 from 52 balls and hit 12 boundaries and 6 sixes.

The opponent team bowlers were completely helpless in front of Dadswell. Four out of the six bowlers gave away more than 100 runs. None of the bowlers had an economy rate lesser than 10.

While chasing an impossible target of 678 runs, Pitch Dorp could only score 290 runs after losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. NWU-Pukke won the game by a stunning margin of 387 runs.
