Sourav Ganguly aka ‘Dada’ turns 45, Twitterati declare it as ‘National Aggression Day’

Sourav Ganguly is one of the most aggressive captains that the World Cricket has ever seen, he scored a century on his debut and his farewell match as well

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper who led the team in a period when they were struggling to make it big in world cricket. The man who introduced a different brand of cricket to India and taught them how to play with aggression. One of the most passionate captains Indian cricket has ever seen, the one who also inspired current skipper Virat Kohli. Ganguly aka Dada turns 45 and it was quite obvious that he will be the trend on Twitter on July 8. He may not have been playing on the field but his passion is even reflected from the commentary box.

Ganguly in his captaincy started a trend. He took India to new heights as they were in a transitional period at that time. He gave the foundation to the team and groomed many players who did well for the country. One of the most iconic moments of his career was when he removed his shirt at Lord’s after winning the Natwest Trophy 2002 as India created history by chasing down 326.

Dada scored 131 in his debut game and since then never looked back. He rose to fame and eventually was named the captain of the side. He led the team in such a way that they rose from 8th rank in Test rankings. When Ganguly left, India were on the second spot in the rankings. That’s the impact Ganguly has had on Team India.

Many cricket experts give Ganguly the credit that he taught India to be formidable while playing away from their home. His advanced shot, dancing down the track and humiliating spinners is a joy to watch even now.

From making Waugh wait for him at the toss, to opening his jersey at the Lord’s balcony, there’s nothing he can’t do.#HappyBirthdayDada

Once he got going it was tough for the opposition to take control. Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar formed one of the most dangerous opening pairs of all time.
