Shai Hope takes the ‘Catch of the Year’ against New Zealand in 2nd Test — Watch

West Indies are 30 for 2 and still need 414 runs with 8 wickets in hand to level the series

It was Shai Hope who plucked the ball out of thin air to take a miraculous catch, literally! Hope took a left-handed blinder to get rid of Wagner, who wanted to play a booming drive through the covers. Earlier, Trent Boult too did something similar. Boult took a one-handed blinder to get rid of Shimron Hetmyer.

New Zealand was on 257 when the incident took place. Kemar Roach was the bowler. Wagner on 8 came down hard at the ball, only to find a thickish outside edge. The ball flew to what can be called a flying fifth slip, where an acrobatic Shai pulled a one-handed catch to stun the Hamilton crowd.

Earlier, during the West Indies innings, we saw Trent Boult do something similar on his follow through. Yet, we feel that Shai Hope’s catch was better because he is a right-hander and he took the catch with his left hand.
