Wait! Did Sarfaraz Ahmed Just Kick Babar Azam On The Field During A Practice Game?

Sarfaraz Ahmed kicking it ahead of World Cup 2019

Sarfaraz Ahmed is one of the most aggressive captains in world cricket.  He was recently suspended for few games over racist comments against South African cricketer Andile Phehlukwayo.

Is he the Thor of the cricketing world? We will let you answer that one.

Sarfraz has returned to captaincy after the ban and currently leading Pakistan in England. During a practice game against Northamptonshire on April 29, Sarfaraz kicked his teammate Babar Azam during the match.

In the footage, the 31-year-old can be seen talking to Babar between overs or after a wicket as there is only one batsman on the pitch. He signalled towards something and then kicked Azam on his legs as the latter tried to escape it. The Northamptonshire batsman and few Pakistani fielders witnessed it in the middle.

The kick could very well have been playful one, in keeping with the camaraderie between two teammates. Like the time  MS Dhoni playfully hit Ravindra Jadeja as the latter fell on the ground after a  hitting a six recently in Indian Premier League (IPL) clash.

Even so, the game of cricket demands certain decorum and players are rightfully reprimanded for not maintaining it.  Moreover, the Pakistan team has a lot to deal with ahead of World Cup 2019. Pakistan have had good practice ahead of limited overs series against England. They have won both the practice matches against Kent and Northamptonshire easily. The visitors will have an added advantage over other teams as they are getting used to the English conditions days before the big tournament.
