Sachin Tendulkar’s young son Arjun Tendulkar has taken his first step towards a cricketing career by getting picked for the Mumbai U-19 squad, according to Crictracker. It is tough to live up to the billing of being the son of the greatest batsman of all time. We got a glimpse of the young cricketer in Sachin Tendulkar’s biopic, ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’. Some time back there was also news about how he had injured English batsman Johny Bairstow in a net session with a lethal yorker. Arjun Tendulkar happens to be a left arm pacer who is handy with the bat as well.
Arjun Tendulkar is just 17 years old and Sachin Tendulkar had made his national debut when he was 16 years old. But that is a wrong comparison to make. The 17-year old Arjun Tendulkar has been named in Mumbai’s U-19 team, which will play the JY Lele All India Under-19 Invitational One Day Tournament in Baroda. Previously, he had been a part of the U-14 and U-16 teams, but this seems to be his biggest leap till date.
The tournament will begin on September 16 and will be played till September 23 at Baroda.

Wasim Akram’s take on the youngster. “He is as enthusiastic as any 15 year old passionate about cricket in India and Pakistan would be,” Wasim told NDTV. “I gave him some general tips about fitness and wrist position. I told him how to bring the ball back into the right-hander. I told him to practice it for three months and then I promised him to teach how to take the ball away from right-handers.”
