Mithali Raj achieves rare feat, becomes first woman cricketer to be a part of most wins in ODIs

Mithali Raj seems to be breaking records with almost every match she plays

Indian skipper Mithali Raj has scripted the history in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa (W). The Indian captain has now been a part of 109 ODI wins which is the most by any woman cricketer. Mithali achieved this feat after Indian eves registered their first bilateral ODI series win by taking an unassailable lead of 2-0 in three-match series.

Here is the list of players who have won most number of ODIs in their career –

Mithali Raj (India) – 109 wins
Karen Rolton (Australia) – 108 wins
Alex Blackwell (Australia) 107 wins
Charlotte Edwards (England) 103 wins

Raj has now played 188 ODIs since the start of her career. She is second in the list of players who have played most number of ODIs. Only former England cricketer Edwards has played more number of ODIs, 191. Raj will surpass Edwards when Australia comes to tour India in March.

The 35-year-old is also highest run-scorer of all-time in the ODI cricket. She has scored 6,255 runs in ODI cricket. She became the first woman to cross the 6,000 mark during ICC Women World Cup held in England & Wales in 2017.

India are currently crushing South Africa in their own backyard. They have not been able to put up a fight with the bat. On the other hand, opener Smriti Mandhana has been in red hot form with scores of 84 and 135 in the first two ODIs.
