KL Rahul Scores Just 4 Runs, Twitterati Say Pujara ‘Much Better Than Him’

England bundled out for 285 runs in their first innings

Right-handed batsman KL Rahul faced the heat on Twitter after he scored just four runs during the second day of the first Test match against England at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on August 2.

KL Rahul, who came to bat at No 3 after the departure of Indian opener Murali Vijay could only manage to play two deliveries before being bowled out with just 4 runs under his name.

During the last ball of the 14th over, Rahul reached out to a full delivery by Sam Curran and tried to drive but the ball took the inside edge and it shattered the stumps.

Following Rahul’s poor show, Twitterati showed no mercy in criticising him and drawing comparisons with Cheteshwar Pujara, saying he was a ‘much better’ option.

Earlier, Virat dropped Pujara from the playing to include in-form KL Rahul at the No 3 position but the Indian skipper’s decision is not going his way.

Here are some of the reactions:

Ridiculous shot first up by KL Rahul. Suddenly Pujara is looking better than him. #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/eL0Ga2vZHn

Sam Curran gets his second wicket of the over. KL Rahul flashes hard, only to drag the ball to his stumps. #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/RAw72y5x3E

This is the only issue with KL Rahul in Test cricket. He can be really loose early in his innings.

Kl rahul is best as opener when he comes at no3 or no 4.he is so nervous its better to open with rahul and vijay and pujara at 3. Any how dhawan is not scoring should be replaced with kl rahul.#ENGvsIND #KLRahul #Pujara

Hi KL Rahul, when they told you you should leave more often when batting, they didn’t mean you should the ground only ya!
That shot was an insult to the memory of another Rahul who also batted at no 3 in tests.

Meanwhile, team India is struggling as they lost 3 early wickets with 63 runs on board in 19 overs. They are still trailing by 223 runs.

Earlier, England could add just two runs to their overnight total of 285 runs in their first innings before being bundled out on the second morning.
