IPL 2018: Vinod Kambli Criticizes Commentators For Lauding Sanju Samson, Faces Backlash On Twitter

IPL 2018: Sanju Samson has been in tremendous form this season, scoring up the order for Rajasthan Royals despite ordinary performances from openers

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli criticised commentators for making too much of Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) in-form player Sanju Samson. According to Kambli, Samson cannot be compared to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and doubts if he had any special talent. Ahead of the Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) fixture, Samson is leading the Orange Cap race with 239 runs from 6 games at an average of 47.80, including two half-centuries and a high score of 92 not out.

However, that does not seem to qualify him as a special talent in Kambli’s books. The 46-year-old faced flak after he posted a tweet during RR’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 22.

#IPL2018. The amount of talking going on by the Commentators about#Sanju Samson about his domestic season and IPL season like they don’t have anything else to talk about. So boring

It was just a matter of time before he got criticised for his post.

Mr. Kambli, Sanju is wearing an Orange Cup now in IPL, hence they speak about him. It would have been great if you were able to speak with your bat like your partner Sachin years back instead of being jealous to new talents

Let’s wait and see Mr. Kambli… There are more days to come. But do not wink at. your eyes to see he is at the top now. That too is not small

My friend when did I criticize Mr Samson. You people are only putting words in your mouth that I have been criticising him. Not a single tweet of mine has criticized him infact I’ve challenged him to do well. So get your act right https://t.co/a2RX4EWMq5

Ask your parents. They must be knowing who I am. Sorry your knowledge about cricket and Cricketers is Zero.

Half of my life I’ve taken criticism from people like you who only know how to bring a person down. shame

— VINOD KAMBLI (@vinodkambli349) April 23, 2018

Criticising is different but Kambli took it to a whole new level by challenging the youngster to perform better and retain the orange cap until the end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

I openly challenge him if you people say that he is a class player then I want to see him getting a hundred or for how long will he keep his orange cap in IPL. If he does it then I will say that he is got something special. All the best Sanju Samson https://t.co/JoCAfViKcG

Kambli went on to clarify his stand and also shared the overall statistics of the 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman.

He went on to criticise foreign commentators as well and asked them to do their homework about performances of local players in the domestic circuit rather than referring to the previous editions of the league.

#IPL2018. Dear International commentators kindly do your homework on our players from India thier performances in thier current domestic season and how fairly they are playing. Don’t talk about what they did last year in IPL
