IPL 2018, SRH vs MI, Match 7: Kieron Pollard's Chance To Equal Sachin Tendulkar's Tally

IPL 2018, SRH vs MI: Mumbai Indians all-rounders Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya can surpass Sachin Tendulkar's tally in different lists against Sunrisers Hyderabad

Mumbai Indians (MI) missed out on starting their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 campaign with a bang as they lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a whisker. A loss in their first game extended MI’s losing streak in the opening match to six games on the trot. MI will be facing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) away from home at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. MI’s star all-rounder Kieron Pollard did not get a chance to play in the first match as Pandya brothers did the trick for the home team.

However, there are many feats to be achieved in the second game against Kane Williamson-led SRH who were pretty clinical in their approach against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their first match:

1. Kieron Pollard has a chance to equal India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of fifities for MI. Tendulkar has scored 13 half-centuries whereas Pollard is one short of equalling his tally. With a fifty, he will take over opener Lendl Simmons’ tally of 12 50-plus scores for MI. The list is topped by skipper Rohit Sharma who has 24 fifties for MI.

2. Rohit needs just two sixes to overtake CSK’s Suresh Raina to become the batsman with the second-highest number of sixes in IPL. Raina has 174 sixes whereas Rohit has 173 sixes. There might be a tussle between Pollard and SRH batsman Yusuf Pathan who have 147 and 146 sixes. The list of most sixes is led by Kings XI Punjab’s (KXIP) Chris Gayle with 265 sixes.

3. Rohit and Pollard have 72 and 70 catches respectively, placed at third and fourth on the list of most catches in IPL. AB de Villiers is ahead of them with 74 catches. It is a possibility that one of them comes close or equals De Villiers tally. Raina leads the list with 87 catches.

4. Hardik Pandya missed out on equalling or going past the number of sixes Tendulkar has hit for MI. Pandya did not hit a single six but if he hits two sixes against SRH, he will go past Tendulkar’s tally of 29 sixes. The list is currently topped by Pollard who has struck 147 sixes for MI in IPL.
