Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni’s marathon innings against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) revived his fans’ faith in his batting and was a slap to his haters. While most of CSK’s batting lineup succumbed under the pressure to chase a total of 198 runs, Dhoni batted till the end and registered an unbeaten knock of 79 runs off 44 deliveries, including 6 fours and 5 towering sixes.

Through the innings, Dhoni was struggling with back pain. He had to be treated in between breaks. The physio gave him a few massages during the innings to get him through. In the end, Dhoni could not win the match for CSK but announced himself in IPL 2018.

There were questions on whether Dhoni would be able to play in the next match after the injury. But CSK did a live video on Facebook, clearing the air over his fitness. He was seen taking on the bowlers and hitting them big in the practice session.
