IPL 2018, KXIP vs DD, Match 2: Gautam Gambhir Needs To Score Big To Go Past Rohit Sharma

IPL 2018, Kings XI Punjab vs Delhi Daredevils: DD have never been able to enter the finals, let alone win the title

Delhi Daredevils (DD) side got a major boost after Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as their captain ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. DD have never been able to reach a final, let alone winning the title. Two-time IPL winning captain Gambhir’s presence might make a difference in the 11th season of the tournament.

Here is the list of individual milestones players can achieve in the first match of the league as they take on Kings XI Punjab –

1. Shreyas Iyer needs one fifty to surpass Quinton de Kock’s tally of 6 half-centuries for DD. Iyer will reach the fourth position in the list of most half-centuries for DD which is led by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag (16 50s).

2. Amit Mishra needs three more catches to surpass Irfan Pathan’s tally of catches (16). He will be in the fourth position on the list led by Sehwag who has 29 catches. Shahbaz Nadeem and Chris Morris have 13 catches currently and can surpass Tillakaratne Dilshan and Jean-Paul Duminy in one go.

3. If Nadeem features in the playing XI, he will also become the third on the list of most matches played for DD. He will equal Dinesh Karthik who has played 56 matches for DD in the past.

4. Gambhir has 4,132 runs in IPL so far and is fourth in the list of leading run scorers in the tournament history. Rohit Sharma got out for a nominal score of 15 in IPL 11 opener. Now, Gambhir will have a chance to surpass the numbers only if he scores more than 90 runs.

5. If Rishabh Pant hits one more six he will go past Karthik as they have hit 30 sixes each for DD. He will also become the fifth in the list of batsmen who have most sixes for DD. There might be an internal competition between Shreyas Iyer and him as the former has 32 sixes and stands fourth on the list.
