IPL 2018: Andrew Tye, Tweeps Lambaste Umpiring Standards Over Kane Williamson No-Ball Row

IPL 2018: The last-over win means Chennai Super Kings go top of the table and Sunrisers Hyderabad slide to the fourth spot

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) edged out Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 4 runs in an edge-of-the-seat IPL 2018 league clash. It was a match where fortunes swung like a pendulum. If we felt at a certain stage CSK were going to walk away from victory, suddenly the tide turned. But, there is one moment in the match that caught our attention.

The episode panned out in the 17th over of the match, which was being bowled by Shardul Thakur. According to Thakur, that one ball may have made the difference. Well, Thakur bowled a ball that seemed above the waist level of Williamson, and hence it should have been called a ‘no-ball’ but that was not to be and that is what irked fans and the cricketing fraternity.

Had it been called a no-ball, Williamson, who was in a red-hot form, would have got an extra ball to face. Williamson scored a breathtaking 84 off 51 balls. With SRH needing 19 off the last over, Rashid Khan took the game down to the wire with a couple of boundaries, but it just seemed that it was not their night.

Here is how Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) bowler Andrew Tye lashed out at the poor standards of umpiring —

4 runs that could have been made off a free hit had it been called, these decisions can be crucial in a game why are we not taking the time to make sure the right call is made?

Poor umpiring ,You gotta feel for SRH .In the end it was just a matter of 4 runs which could have been otherside around if the no ball had been given ,it was miles above the waist .One decision costed them the match .. #SRHvCSK #IPL2018

Can’t understand why the third umpire can’t intervene and call that a no ball. When you’ve the technology why don’t you use it to eliminate howlers #SRHvCSK #IPL2018

That no – ball of Thakur to Williamson which is not given by the umpire made the difference. #SRHvCSK
