IPL 2018, KKR vs KXIP, Match 18: ‘Gayle-Rahul’ Take KXIP To Number 1 Spot!

IPL 2018, KKR vs KXIP, Match 18: Three consecutive 50-plus scores for Chris Gayle in IPL 2018, take that RCB

It was total annihilation from Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) openers Chris Gayle and KL Rahul. Gayle scored his third fifty-plus score on the trot whereas Rahul scored his second fifty of the season. Even ‘Rain Gods’ could not save Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from the wrath of ‘Gaylestorm’ and Rahul’s brilliance. KXIP are the table toppers now. It seems like the way they spent money in IPL 2018 auctions is playing off for them.

Here are the live social updates of KKR vs KXIP:

20:31 IST Christopher Henry Gayle finishes it off in style, 62 runs off 38 balls! Win by 9 wickets and KXIP become table topper.

He was lightning, before the thunder @HenryGayle‘s hit this one so high, it’s troubled the rain-gods up there ⛈

— Hasitha Jayawardene (@Hasitha71) April 21, 2018

15:40 IST Playing XIs:

KXIP: Lokesh Rahul(w), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, Aaron Finch, Yuvraj Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin(c), Andrew Tye, Barinder Sran, Ankit Rajpoot, Mujeeb Ur Rahman

KKR: Sunil Narine, Chris Lynn, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik(w/c), Andre Russell, Shubman Gill, Tom Curran, Piyush Chawla, Shivam Mavi, Kuldeep Yadav

15:30 IST Ashwin has won the toss and elected to bowl first.

On the other hand, KKR have a blend of big players as well the emerging ones. Under Dinesh Karthik’s captaincy, Andre Russell’s comeback has been emphatic. Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa seemed to have picked up right where they left off last season. Rana’s newfound bowling talent in IPL 2018 has been lethal for KKR.

Temperatures and expectations will be high as KKR take on KXIP at their homeground Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Gayle has been phenomenal in the two matches he has played making his ex-franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) jealous for letting him go easily.

It is going to be a battle for the top spot in IPL points table. KKR are in the second position whereas KXIP are in fourth. Whoever wins this match will become the table toppers.
