IPL 2018: Junior Dala Replaces Injured Chris Morris For Delhi Daredevils

IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevils all-rounder Chris Morris has been ruled out of IPL 2018 and been replaced by his South African teammate Junior Dala

Junior Dala, the South African fast bowler has been named as replacement for all-rounder Chris Morris in Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) squad. Dala remained unsold in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 auctions. The fast bowler’s base price was Rs 20 lakh whereas Morris was retained in IPL 2018 retentions for Rs 7 crore.

Morris played just four games in the tournament for DD. He took two wickets and scored just 46 runs in four innings. Dala made his international debut for South Africa in 2018 against India. The fast bowlers impressed straightaway taking 7 wickets in the three-T20I series. He proved to be a wicket-taker for South Africa in the T20I series despite leaking runs at an economy rate of more than 9 runs per over.

DD have not lived up to the expectations from them after IPL 2018 auctions. They looked like the most balanced team of the tournament but are currently at the bottom of the table with five losses out of 6 matches.

Junior Dala will be joining the #DDSquad as a replacement for the injured Chris Morris.

There have been major changes in the side as Gautam Gambhir stepped down from the captaincy making way for a 23-year-old Shreyas Iyer. Gambhir has not been making runs and the team’s batting lineup has not been consistent barring the new skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant.

Gutted to have left @DelhiDaredevils due to injury. Thank you to everyone at our amazing franchise for the support! Let’s make magic happen men! What a story it would be! #DilDilli

DD will be looking to make a comeback as they play against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 27. Almost every match is a do or die situation for them if they are to remain in the race of IPL 2018 playoffs. Their Net Run Rate (NRR) has suffered immensely after disappointing losses in the tournament so far.
