IPL 2018: Delhi Daredevils Name Liam Plunkett As Kagiso Rabada’s Replacement

Kagiso Rabada will be out of the action because of injury in lower back after recently concluded Test series against Australia at home

Delhi Daredevils (DD) rope in England all-rounder Liam Plunkett to replace an injured Kagiso Rabada for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. This will be the first time Plunkett will be featuring in IPL. He was picked from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) list. The 33-year-old’s base price in the IPL 2018 auction was Rs 2 crore, the same as Rabada’s.

Here’s announcing @Liam628 as our replacement for @KagisoRabada25 for the VIVO @IPL 2018. We’re stoked to have him with us!

Welcome to Dilli, Liam! #DilDilli #Dhadkega

We are delighted to welcome @Liam628 to the @DelhiDaredevils family for #VIVOIPL as replacement for injured @KagisoRabada25 …. Aab #DilDilli aur #Dhadkega @IPL #VIVOIPLonStar

Plunkett is known for variations, especially in the death overs. He can bat down the order as well hitting a few out of the park. While fans were expecting players like Moises Henriques, Andile Phehlukwayo, David Willey and others to replace Rabada, they replaced him with the English player.

Rabada posted a message as well after missing out on IPL 2018 –

Not happy to be out of the @IPL. However, life moves on. It’s been a long season of cricket, and I can’t wait to be fit again. To the @DelhiDaredevils team, give it ‘ horns ‘. Time to rest
