IPL 2018, DD vs SRH: Rishabh Pant Does What No Batsman Has Done To Bhuvneshwar Kumar In IPL — Watch

IPL 2018, DD vs SRH, Match 42: Rishabh Pant registers the highest score for an Indian batsman in IPL history

Rishabh Pant wore the Orange Cap in style with his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) century. Pant made up for the two run-outs including that of Delhi Daredevils’ (DD) skipper Shreyas Iyer and Harshal Patel. He scored 128 runs from just 63 deliveries and remained run out. His innings was studded with 15 fours and 7 sixes. However, the highlight of his innings was the assault he launched on one of the best death overs’ bowler in world cricket — Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Pant scored most of his runs against Bhuvneshwar. He scored 43 runs off 11 deliveries at a strike rate of 391. It was in the last over of the innings that Pant unleashed his wrath, hitting him for 3 sixes and 2 fours. This was Bhuvneshwar’s most expensive over ever since he started playing in the IPL.

The previous assault he faced was in IPL 2016 when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Sarfraz Khan hit him for 22 runs in an over. His spell against DD is his second-most expensive spell in IPL, giving 51 runs from his four overs and picking up one wicket.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) main bowler did not concede more than 33 runs in this season but was finessed by Pant with few unorthodox shots. Few of these shots amused his teammates Jason Roy and Daniel Christian in the dugout. SRH skipper Kane Williamson too was impressed by Pant’s improvisation as Bhuvneshwar could do nothing but walk back to take the run-up again.
