IPL 2018: Billy Stanlake Ruled Out Of The Tournament Due To Finger Injury

IPL 2018: Sunrisers Hyderabad fast-bowler Stanlake fractured the fifth finger of his right hand while fielding against Chennai Super Kings on April 22

Billy Stanlake, the Australian speedster, has recently joined the list of batsmen who have been ruled out of the eleventh edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to injury. On April 24, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) confirmed the news after the Indian and Australian orthopaedic specialists declared him not fit to play the rest of the tournament.

According to the statement given by SRH, Stanlake sustained a displacement injury on the fifth finger of his right hand while fielding against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 22. As per the medical reports, the speedster needs surgical reduction and fixation and hence, has been ruled out of the rest of the tournament. Following the same, Stanlake has left for Australia for further treatment.

With this, Sunrisers Hyderabad have become the fourth team after CSK, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders to lose a player due to injury. Earlier in the season, players like Kamlesh Nagarkoti (KKR), Mitchell Santner (CSK), Kagiso Rabada (DD), Mitchell Stac (RCB) and Kedar Jadhav (CSK) were ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.

Stanlake has been in a good form right from the beginning of the tournament. He bowled some crucial spells while playing for SRH and even performed with the bat on several occasions. He had missed just one game in the tournament when English pacer Chris Jordan was preferred over him.
