India vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI Highlights: Rohit Sharma’s ‘HITMAN’ show eclipses Angelo Mathews’ fightback!

Rohit Sharma took the Sri Lankan bowling lineup by storm in the death overs scoring over 10 sixes in Mohali ODI

Team India avenged the humiliating defeat in the first ODI at Dharamsala. The hosts won the second ODI at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali by a huge margin of 141 runs. Rohit ‘HITMAN’ Sharma scored his third double hundred in ODIs and broke a number of records. Chasing a target of 393, Sri Lanka could not pose a threat as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Angelo Mathews managed to put up a fight as he scored 111 runs unbeaten.

Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 2 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and debutante Washington Sundar picked up a wicket each in the innings.

Thisara Perera won the toss and elected to field first. Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a good start sharing a partnership of 115 for the first wicket. Dhawan scored 68 runs from 67 balls including 9 fours. Rohit anchored the innings with Shreyas Iyer and shared a partnership of 213 runs for the second wicket. Iyer scored his maiden ODI fifty. He scored 88 runs from 70 deliveries featuring 9 fours and 2 sixes.

Rohit went on to score his third double century in ODIs. This was the first time he remained unbeaten after scoring a double century. He also surpassed Yuvraj Singh in the tally of sixes in ODI cricket. Rohit is now the only captain to have a double century in ODI cricket. The Hitman also struck four sixes in a row off Suranga Lakmal.
