More than hitting sixes, I focus on what the team wants, says Hardik Pandya

After India defeated Sri Lanka by 304 runs in the first Test, Cheteshwar Pujara interviewed the Indian debutant in a video by BCCI.tv where he spoke about his experiences

The Indian cricket team recently smashed the Sri Lankan team by 304 runs in the first Test of the 3-match bilateral Test series at Galle on July 29. Players like Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara impressed with their incomparable knocks but there was another key player who created a difference. Young Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya made his Test debut in that game and knocked a half-century and picked up a wicket in the first innings as well. After the game, Cheteshwar Pujara interviewed the Indian debutant in a video by BCCI.tv where he spoke about his experiences.

Pandya said that he was just six years old when he used to see his brother Krunal playing cricket. Later, former Indian cricketer and selector Kiran More saw him and suggested to take up cricket. When asked about his experience in the first Test, he said,”It’s great. As a youngster, you always dream to play Test cricket for your country. I was really proud of myself.”

Pujara asked,”I have always felt that after Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya is the only one who has the capability to hit six sixes. What do you think?”

To this question, Pandya smartly replied,”I don’t think about hitting sixes. I Just focus on what the team requires.”

Both the Indian cricketers also spoke about Pandya’s hairstyle. Pujara asked whether he’ll be Team India’s next Rockstar or not. To this, Pandya said,”I can’t say about being the rockstar but I’ll keep on changing my hairstyles and take up different colours.”

Pandya also revealed that he admires former South African all-rounder Jaques Kallis. He is his favourite. At the same time, Pandya also said revealed that South Africa is the nations where Test playing conditions may differ and he will surely be focusing on those challenges.
