India started their chase after rain reduced the match to a 47 over-match, India needed six runs less 231

After thrashing Sri Lanka in the first One Day International at Dambulla, it seemed India was the only team and the other team was just making up numbers. India went into the match unchanged. But Sri Lanka brought in the young Akila Dananjaya, who was an unknown entity. India invited the host to bat after winning the toss. Sri Lanka scored 237 which looked easy for the star studded Indian batting line up. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, he picked up 4 wickets and Chahal too chipped in with two wickets.

India started their chase after rain reduced the match to a 47 over-match, India needed six runs less 231. India, thanks to Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma India got off to a rollicking start. The openers put on a 100-run partnership before losing the first wicket when the score was 108 and soon was reduced to 131 for 7. Akila Dananjaya had struck like lightening to India. Finally, the onus was on Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to see India through and they did just that. The two put on a slow 100-run partnership to make sure India lose no more wickets.
