India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test: Virat Kohli & Co. take series home, defeat Lankans by an inning and 53 runs

Team India rode on a superb bowling performance to defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs in the second Test at the SSC in Colombo. Lead the series by 2-0

Virat Kohli and Co. once again proved that they are the number one Test for a reason. Team India beat the Sri Lankan team by an innings and 53 runs on their home soil in the 2nd Test of India vs Sri Lanka 3-match bilateral series on August 8. With this victory, Team India leads the series by 2-0 with one more game to be played. This is also the 8th consecutive Test match victory for the Indian cricket team under the captaincy of Virat Kohli while second Test series win  in Sri Lanka.

The Lankan followed on in the second innings while batsmen Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews kept up the Sri Lankan fight against India, posting 302/4 in the second innings by lunch on Day-4. Pushpakumara, who came in as the night watchman, was batting comfortably, hitting three boundaries over the course of a patient 58-ball innings. However, all his hard word work was undone in a moment of madness when the right-hander decided to reverse his stance to a delivery from Ashwin. His attempted shot missed the ball completely which went on to dislodge the bails.

In the second session, the Lankan batsmen tried to pull-up the score and save the follow on but Ravindra Jadeja’s fiery bowling spell forced them to surrender. Team India rode on a superb bowling performance to defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs in the second Test

World no 1 Test bowler, Ravindra Jadeja took the 9th 5-wicket haul of his career and dismissed Dinesh Chandimanl, Angelo Mathews, Dilruwan Perera, Dhananjay Disilva and one of the two centurions Dimuth Karunaratne. Doing the most of the damage, Ravindra Jadeja did most of the damage with figures of 5/152. Star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had figures of 2/132 while medium-pacer Hardik Pandya returned 2/31. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav took one wicket.
