This is a high-octane match for many reason, for political of course and last month India’s men team led by Virat Kohli lost to  Pakistan in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy in the same country. India are a team in form, they have won their last two games against England and West Indies. India women won the toss and opted to bat first. The start was not as per script as India lost in-form Smriti Mandhana early for 2 runs. Deepti Sharma walked in next, they steadied the innings, but the run rate was way below par. A lot was expected from Harmanpreet Kaur but she too could not make a real impact, she was dismissed for 10 runs. Mona could not get among the runs as well, she departed for 6. Most of the wickets fell due to playing lose shots till Sushma Verma along with Jhulan Goswami brought some respectability back. Jhulan Goswami departed soon after India went past 150. But Sushma kept the good work going as she struck a few lusty blows in the end. In an attempt to clear the ground Verma departed for 33 off 35 balls. India ended with 169, setting Pakistan 170 to win.

But Pakistan women responded woefully falling prey to Ekta Bisht who picked two wickets. Pakistan were 9 for 3 at a certain stage to becoming 14 for 4. Ayesha Zafar was plumb lbw for 1 by Ekta. Javeria Khan was the next to go, she separated for 6 of the bowling of Jhulan Goswami. The bisht got Shitra out leg before wicket. Pakistan was reeling and were looking down the barrel. Iram Javed also departed soon for 1, she was picked by Ekta. After a bit of respite Deepti Sharma was brought into the attack and she got Nain Abidi for 5 runs. Soon Mansi Joshi picked up Asmavia for 0. Pakistan were reeling at 26 for 6. After a solid resistance, Nahida the last woman standing also departed for 23. It was Harmanpreet Kaur who git among the wickets. The score was 44 for 7.
