India vs Bangladesh Test, Day 3 Lunch Report: Umesh, Ishant strike early

The first session of Day 3 clearly belonged to India as Bangladesh lose 3 wickets, Umesh Yadav and Ishant Sharma extract bounce off the pitch.

No surprises in the first session of Day 3. Bangladesh batsmen fail to hold their ground as they lost 3 wickets in first session only. A stupid runout of in-form batsman Tamim Iqbal just threw his wicket away, in an attempt to take a second run, from there it went downhill for the visitors. Yadav took off from where he left and took the wicket of Mominul Haque. Ishant Sharma got the wicket of Mahmudullah on the very first delivery of his spell. Bangladesh will have to fight harder in order to avoid follow on.

Virat Kohli’s decision to play with three seamers paid off. Umesh Yadav is making life miserable for the batsmen. He came in round the wicket to left-handers, extracting pace and bounce off the pitch. He has taken 2 wickets in the innings so far. Bhuvneshwar Kumar too bowled a tight line and length in his first spell. He along with Yadav pulled off a runout of Iqbal, it was never a good decision to test a fielder with bullet arm.

Ishant Sharma too made a comeback after his performance on Day 2. He bowled a beauty of an in-swinger to get rid of Mahmudullah. Sharma is able to extract extra bounce off the pitch.

Shakib Al Hasan is trying to break the shackles, he knows he needs to attack in order to score runs. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim has joined him in the middle. Rahim is trying to use the pace of the ball which has worked out well for him so far.

Indian seamers are using reverse-swing to the best effect, it clearly means that Bangladesh batsman have a long day ahead of them.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 125/4 (Shakib Al Hasan 29, Mahmudullah 28; Umesh Yadav 2 for 32, Ishant Sharma 1 for 38) trail India 687/6 (Virat Kohli 204, Murali Vijay 108; Taijul Islam 3 for 156, Mehedi Hasan 2 for 165) by 562 runs
