Here’s how KL Rahul’s making sure he does not get bowled to Akila Dananjaya in 3rd ODI | Watch Video

KL Rahul had a terrible experience at Pallekele as he was outfoxed by Sri Lanka's new mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya in the 3rd ODI

KL Rahul who made a comeback in India’s ODI side after almost a year did not have the best of the starts against Sri Lanka. Indian skipper Virat Kohli promoted Rahul up the order against Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Pallekele which did not work out for the best. Rahul was bamboozled by Sri Lanka’s new mystery spinner Akila Dananjaya as he was drawn forward on the front foot into a drive. Rahul played down the wrong line as the ball went through bat and pads hitting the stumps. Rahul got out for 4 which resulted in a major batting collapse as India were reduced to 131 for 7 in the 22nd over.

Rahul had a good Test series against Sri Lanka scoring half centuries after half centuries. But, when he got the chance to bat in the second ODI it turned out to be a disaster. Rahul got out after scoring 4 runs off 6 balls. Rahul is surely skipper Kohli’s choice in the middle order as Yuvraj Singh is out of the side after failing the Yo-Yo fitness test.

It seems like Rahul is aiming to make up for the lost opportunity as he practices in the nets ahead of 3rd ODI to be played at the Pallekele pitch again.

In the video posted by BCCI on Twitter, Rahul can be seen practising against left-arm bowler and right-arm bowler simultaneously. Rahul is a big prospect for India in the limited overs format. He would have made it into India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2017 had it not been for the injury he suffered against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Rahul was absent from the whole edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 as he underwent the surgery in London. He made a decent comeback in the Tests coming after an injury and will be looking to reciprocate that in the limited overs as well.
