Watch: AB de Villiers chooses between football legends Cristiano Ronaldo & Lionel Messi!

AB de Villiers had his say on who's the better footballer from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2017

The South African skipper AB de Villiers aka Mr. 360 is all set to play in ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Before the tournament kicks off, De Villiers had a Q & A session with his fans via International Cricket Council (ICC) Twitter handle. But, apart from cricket questions this time around he was asked a question which has been going around for years, who is your favorite between footballing legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

De Villiers was quick to reply to that question, he replied “Alright, very easy question for me – my favourite player between Ronaldo and Messi? It’s always been, Messi. I just feel that he’s a no-nonsense kind of player, doesn’t fake it out there, is all about his great skill that he has and ability to win games out of nowhere… it’s Lionel Messi”.

De Villiers did not give a politically correct answer that both the players are great in their own way or something like that. Instead, he was bang-on straightforward in choosing between the two footballing legends. ALSO READ: ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Did Virat Kohli hint Dinesh Karthik replacing Ajinkya Rahane in India vs Pakistan clash?

De Villiers will be leading the Proteas in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017. South Africa will be high on confidence having taken the momentum from the previous ODI match against England despite losing the series 1-2.

De Villiers has not been to the best of his form recently. He could not live up to the expectations in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they finished at the bottom of the table with 3 wins from 14 games. In the ODI series as well, he was not in full throttle. But, one can never ignore the potential of De Villiers to play in big matches, he is still the No.1 ODI batsman according to ICC ODI Batsmen Rankings. ALSO READ: Watch: MS Dhoni makes a mess of a simple catch and Virat Kohli could not stop laughing!

South Africa are currently the No.1 ODI team followed by Australia and India. They will be going up against Sri Lanka on June 3 in their first ICC Champions Trophy  2017 game.
