Tamim Iqbal survives a close call with death, almost kills himself in frustration with broken pieces of glass

The practise game is taking place to prepare the Bangladeshi players for the Australian series, which starts from the 27th of August

Star opening batsman of Bangladesh had a close shave after he was hit with broken shards of glasses. Tamim Iqbal has been in red hot form this season nearly made a hash of things after he was dismissed for 29 in a three-day practise game at Chittagong. The practise game is taking place to prepare the Bangladeshi players for the Australian series, which starts from the 27th of August. Earlier, there were questions raised after he returned from the English County mid way, that he and his wife faced racial attacks at a restaurant. A news he still denies. But what happened on Sunday during the match has raised concerns over the mindset of players.

What really transpired?

Once he was dismissed for 29 runs, he was absurdly disappointed. So when he was walking back to the pavilion, there was a glass door that came in his way. In a way to vent out his anger, he slammed the bat into the glass, it broke immediately. The glass shards nearly hit him in his eye, but he had a narrow escape.

After the incident, he spoke to reporters covering the match and said, “The moment I pushed on the door the glass broke entirely. I fell to the ground as well and if anyone saw the state of my pads, they would know how dangerous the accident could have been. Thanks to Allah that I got off from such a dangerous situation. The injury is nothing serious, I am just thankful since the situation could have been bad. The injured area sometimes stretches the skin but it’s nothing serious.”

Tamim Iqbal already has four stitches on his stomach after the incident. The injury will be assessed after the stitches are cut.

Tamim was unable to participate in Tigers practice session today after returning from Chittagong.

Tamim Iqbal was instrumental in Bangladesh making it to the semi-finals for the first time of the ICC Champions Trophy.
