New Zealand vs Bangladesh, ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Shakib Al Hasan-Mahumudullah duo stun Kiwis, win by 5 wickets

4 wickets for 33 while chasing a target of 266 against New Zealand. One does not consider Bangladesh team much of a threat with their top order torn into bits and pieces. But, what Shakib Al Hasan and Mahumudullah did will go down in the history books as Bangladesh’s one of the best victory in ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The Bangladesh Tigers beat New Zealand by 5 wickets with 16 balls to spare. Both Mahmudullah and Shakib scored centuries and put on a miraculous stand of 224 runs for the fifth wicket to keep their hopes in the tournament earlier. With this win, Bangladesh have knocked out New Zealand out of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

In the end, Bangladesh chased down the total quite easily with wickets in hand and playing themselves in. Shakib got to his century in style hitting Milne for a six over fine leg, he scored his 7th ODI century. He got out for 114 to Trent Boult, taking his team to the doorstep of victory.

Earlier, Kiwi bowlers were able to put pressure on Bangladesh batsmen early on as they were reduced to 4 for 33. Southee spit fire as he got three quick wickets sending Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman back to the pavilion. Mushfiqur Rahim tried to rebuild the innings but got out cheaply leaving the team in danger.

Bangladesh bowlers did well too as they restricted New Zealand to a modest total. One that did not look like a match-winning one. Only Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor could manage to score half-centuries. Taskin and Mosaddek put the pressure on Kiwis and did not let the score get out of the grasp.

Now, Bangladesh have a chance of making it into the semi-finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 if England beats Australia on June 10.
