India vs Bangladesh, Semi-Finals: Don’t expect Champions Trophy title from us, says Mashrafe Mortaza

Mashrafe Mortaza-led Bangladesh lost their first game to England but later, they turned out to be the dark horses and entered into the semi-finals. Now they will play India on June 15 at Edgbaston in the second semi-finals of the tournament

For the first time in the history of ICC tournaments, Bangladesh has reached the semi-final phase and now they will India on 15th June at Edgbaston. After defeating New Zealand by 5 wickets and eliminating them from the race, the Bengal Tigers have shined like never before. meanwhile, the entire team is happy with this feat and so is the skipper, Mashrafe Mortaza. However, he made a strange request to their fans ahead of their next big game. Mortaza has asked the fans not to expect something very high from them.

According to a report in the Times of India, he stated that the moment is historic for them but at the same time, he has asked the fans to lower their expectations. He said:

“Something big has happened to us and for our cricket. But I’ll request everybody not to expect that we would win the title. It’s a competition where world’s top 8 teams fight and it’s much more challenging than world cups. So, being in the Semi-Finals is an achievement for us and a reward for our continuous effort towards our game improvement.”

Mortaza also thanked the fans for their support throughout. He spoke their upcoming schedule and stated that they will only focus on the upcoming game against India.

“Everyone in the team has contributed to this success. The people will be with us like they were in our good and bad times. Our focus for the next few days will be to prepare ourselves for the next game.”

Bangladesh though lost its first game to England but towards the end of the knockout rounds, they turned out to be the dark horses and entered into the semi-finals. On the other hand, India defeated South Africa on June 11 in a crucial game and reached entered the semifinals with topping the Group B points table. Both the neighbouring countries will play at Edgbaston on June 15 and the winner will be straight into the finals of this world tournament.
