ICC Champions Trophy: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s tip to Hardik Pandya: Be selfless as a finisher

ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Mahendra Singh Dhoni for starters has asked Hardik Pandya to be selfless and not think of personal goals while in a situation

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is arguably the best finisher in the world and now he is in England for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, but not as a captain but a player. Hardik Pandya, the next-gen Indian allrounder has been in phenomenal form off late, with the bat and the ball. He also scored a belligerent 80 against Bangladesh to set up the Indian victory. Pandya is a player on the right track and need a little more guidance before he becomes a real threat, not that he is not.

Pandya it seems got a ted talk from former captain of India Mahendra Singh Dhoni and it seems that has helped him improve as a finisher. Dhoni for starters has asked him to be selfless and not think of personal goals while in a tricky situation, when you are required to seal the match. Dhoni has also asked him to take some time when he walks into bat and not go hammer and tongs from ball one. Also MSD asked him to have an eye on the scoreboard at all times while in a crunch chase. These are tricks that helped Mahendra Singh Dhoni become the best finisher in the world.

“I had a chat with Mahi bhai.  He said ‘If you can take some time at the start, later on the runs are there to come’. The best part I have learned from him is when he shares his opinions and experience. I still remember one incident when I asked him how to finish games during the England (home) series,” Hardik Pandya noted.
