ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Injured Wahab Riaz makes way for left-arm pacer Muhammad Abbas

India v Pakistan, ICC Champions Trophy 2017: A scan confirmed a “deltoid ligament complex”, and Wahab Riaz will need two weeks to recover

Pakistan lost to India in their opener and lost convincingly by 124 runs, they were no match for India. Two of their frontline bowlers picked up and injury during the game and had to leave the field, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Aamir. Fast bowling is the strength of the Pakistani unit, whose batting is very average and inexperience. But it seems their chances of going deep in the tournament has taken a hit after Wahab Riaz with the latest will not be taking part in the tournament.

Pakistan need a big show and inspiration from somewhere to get back on track in the tournament. He will be replaced by another left-arm pacer Muhammad Abbas. So, it is in that way a like-for-like replacement. It seems Pakistan has gone for horses for courses policy. A scan confirmed a “deltoid ligament complex”, and Wahab will need two weeks to recover. Riaz straightaway went to the hospital from the field where he had undergone X-ray tests.

As per reports in Times of Islamabad, young fast bowler Mohammad Abbas will be the addition to the squad. Pakistan is scheduled to play their two remaining crucial games against Sri Lanka and South Africa in the Group B fixture

So who is this guy?

The 27-year-old Abbas has played 40 List A games in which he has taken 54 wickets. He also played three Tests to claim 15 wickets against Windies at the average of 19.20. So he is a good choice but it remains to be seen as he has a mountain to climb if Pakistan want to impress in the tournament.
